Introduction to Communication - Healthcare
Leadership Development for Healthcare:
This course is largely self-directed but has 5 reflection points where you will work with one of our coaches as you develop your platform for leading. The program is based on Dr. Ryan Sanders' research, where he identified the mechanisms that increase training content engagement and retention despite the typical obstacles (sociological, psychological, etc) that all leaders face when trying to get their team to execute a plan. You can find a summary of the research on Temple University's Knowledge Hub. The core finding is that leadership must be tailored to the individuals involved and the situation they are operating in.
With that in mind, you wil be guided through four sections to establish your unique foundations for leading well:
You will start with Self-awareness (of themselves and their place within their team)
Then you will learn the tools of effective Communication in context to their self-awareness
You will apply these tools in context to high performing teams and consider how to mantain Mental Resilience under pressure
You will end by developing a plan to execute your new processes using these 3 steps. You will develop Accountability for yourself and team in executing a focused project. This will be your first applied practice in executing the continual adjustments that leaders must make to retain peak performance
At the end of each stage you will be evovling a Platform for your Leadership which represents who you are and how you lead. This will be something that comes to mind any time your team comes into a room. It is the foundation of the leadership processes you will create and is the glue that keeps your leadership consistent, effective and measureable. You will complete the course by submitting a written proposal for one specific project where you will implement this new leadership platform. Our team is available to answer questions about the course and clarify anything you might need. If you need deeper coaching on developing or executing your plan, we can set up a coaching session.
This course is estimated to take 40 hours including reflection and developing your proposed plan to implement your leadership platform. However, there everyone completes the course at their own pace. There is no reward for completing sections quickly or punishment for being deliberate. The goal is to be effective based on your situation and needs!
