Rick Young

Rick is a 25-year global Human Resources executive, university faculty, and non-profit board member. He began his HR career at Ford Motor Company assembly and stamping plants including as Labor Relations Manager of the Kansas City Assembly Plant, Ford’s largest and highest-volume facility.

Rick later joined United (Raytheon) Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engines as HR manager for the Specialty Manufacturing Group covering sites in the US, China, and Israel.

Rick then joined (Royal Dutch) Shell, plc, progressing through roles including Site Industrial Relations Manager for the Deer Park (Texas) Refinery & Chemical Plant, HR Manager for Manufacturing Excellence covering 35 refineries across the US, Europe, and Asia, HR Director and CHRO for Shell & Turcas Petrol based in Istanbul, Turkey, HR Director for Deep Water Gulf of Mexico, and finally Director of Organization Development & Learning for Deep Water and Shales, a $20 billion business unit with sites in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Mexico and Argentina.

In addition to his corporate career, Rick is an adjunct faculty member in Human Resources Management at the Tulane University A.B. Freeman School of Business and holds certifications as a change practitioner from the Kantor Institute/ Assessing in Action, recruitment assessor from Shell, plc, and conflict mediator from the Butler County, Ohio, court system. Rick is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Labor and Employment Relations Association where he was elected to the Awards Committee and is a contributing author to their professional magazine, Perspectives on Work.

Rick is currently completing his doctorate in business administration from Grenoble Ecole de Management in France and holds a Master of Labor and Human Resources degree from Ohio State University, a Master of Arts in History from Miami University (Ohio), and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from Miami University.

Rick and his wife have four children in college, high school, and elementary school, who live around the world with multiple nationalities including American, French, Turkish, and Czech, making every family gathering an opportunity to practice organization management and development.
