Dr. Shelly Clay-Robison
Shelly’s career has focused on international humanitarian and human rights advocacy, and peace education. She is an assistant professor in the School for Public and International Affairs where she teaches in the M.S. Negotiations and Conflict Management program. Her current research is in Indonesia where she works with artists and activists who support the 1965 survivor community, feminist action, and other social movements. She also works in peacebuilding and racial reconciliation in Baltimore and develops conflict resolution workshops for K-12 students and faculty. Shelly taught Cultural Anthropology, Sociology, and Conflict Transformation at York College of Pennsylvania. She was the lead program facilitator for the Women’s Leadership Initiative at the University of Delaware. She also consults as an executive leadership and conflict resolution coach. Before her work in higher education, her career focused on international human rights policy and protection of civilians during armed conflict.
Shelly utilizes the principles of Nonviolent Communication when facilitating organizational and interpersonal conflict resolution workshops.
Shelly loves to be outside, hiking, sailing, and rock climbing. She is also an artist and regularly researches and writes on the arts’ ability to create progressive social change.
Shelly and her husband have three children who test their conflict resolution skills every day.
